The park in Summer
Summer usually comes to the park as a hot breath of air. The trees are fully leafed, allowing only dappled patterns of sunlight to fall upon the ground beneath their towering frames. Dandelions first appear as yellow buttons strewn across the grassy areas, then age to feathery white balls ; teasel, wild carrot, and Queen Anne's lace compete for space along the fence line; and berries replace blooms on vines and bushes.
