The park in Spring
Spring comes softly to the park. Before the trees burst forth in leaf, the sun begins to warm the earth, long chilled by winter's blast. Wildflowers emerge through the leaf litter on the ground; slowly at first, then suddenly overnight they seem to burst into bloom and bring color to the brown landscape. Off the trail ground is soggy underfoot and there are often puddles in low areas. Spring bulbs (narcissus, crocus, woodland crocus, etc.) have been planted by volunteers in various locations as part of an on-going beautification project.
